::On-Line Systems::
The variety of Softcon controllers can be inter-linked in
systems to allows the configuration of controllers from central
(or multi) PCs and facilitate the movement of status information
and control data between system components.A Softcon ‘Mux’
card installed in the PC (PCI bus) provides the interface
from PC to Softcon SW. This card connects to Softcon controllers
via an RS485 or Fiber optic LAN cable, or via a RS232 link
to a modem. The LAN is multi-drop configuration (cable loops
in and out of each controller – no stubs, T-pieces or
star network), with the PC installed at any point on the LAN.
Up to 4 mux interfaces per PC can each interface to a maximum
of 254 controllers. System configuration is entered at and
downloaded from the PCs. Transactions are sent to the PCs,
displayed and logged to hard disk and printer..
